You can purchase a kitten from Nevada Rain Cats, by following these steps:
- Contact Lacey via phone call, text (775-217-1820) or email ([email protected]).
- Pay your deposit via Zelle- If the deposit is for an unborn kitten, then it is $300 to reserve the next choice in an upcoming litter. This deposit is non-refundable and will go toward the total price of the kitten you choose. If you want to see if we currently have any deposits, look at the top of the Available Kittens page. If you would like to reserve a specific kitten, the deposit amount is half of the the kitten price. For example, If the total price is $3800, the deposit to reserve that kitten would be $1900. If you reserve a kitten and place a deposit, and later you decide not to get that kitten, you forfeit your deposit. Deposits forfeited cannot be placed on a future kitten. Please do not send any money until after you have contacted us for the appropriate username and have inquired about the availability of our kittens. I'd also like to get to know more about you prior to your reservation of a kitten or a choice in an unborn litter. If you have a deposit down, I will let you know when I am adding kittens to my Available kittens page and will verify whether you'd like to reserve one or wait until the next litter. Please know that I have limited time to find homes for my kittens. Some arrangements take weeks to work out, so if you will honor this request, it would make things a lot easier and fun for everyone: If you are on my deposits list, you have until the kitten is four weeks old to decide to reserve a kitten or pass. If you have not reserved a kitten, at four weeks of age, I will begin notifying the next choice to see if they'd like to reserve the kitten. If you would like videos or to have a FaceTime to help you choose prior to four weeks of age, I can do that, but holding off on choosing just to watch all the kittens grow up is not an option. I'm so sorry, but I can't have multiple litters on hold for several weeks when many people are dying to choose and know exactly what they want. All of those on the deposits list have the same amount of money down ($300) so please honor and respect everyone's excitement and understand that this is a lot of fun for everyone if they don't spend weeks wondering if they'll get a certain kitten. I try to get all blood tests and/or genetic testing done as early as possible for people who are interested in the kittens that are "On Breeder's Hold", so please do your best to be considerate of others awaiting your choice so they can make their's.
- The remainder of the balance, plus the shipping/mileage cost (if there is one), will be paid just before I leave home or upon receiving your kitten in person. If we've arranged travel and you and I will not meet face to face when you get your kitten, your balance will be due the day prior to the kitten leaving my home. Please pay your balance in cash only the day you get your kitten if we meet in person. We cannot accept checks. If the balance is not paid at the time we meet, your kitten will not be released to you.
- If you do not live in an area near me or you can't travel to meet me, I may be able to offer a flight nanny service. The flight nanny and travel cost is around $550-650 within the United States (excluding Alaska and Hawaii). Our best rates for a flight nanny are only possible because he flies on standby, which means that his flight plans may change, be delayed, or be canceled. We've had a couple of kittens arrive later than planned because of a late or canceled flight and we've had to totally reschedule one trip as well, so if you want a definite arrival date, please know that a transport who is not affected by the unknowns of flying on standby, will be more expensive ($1000+). If your plans cannot be changed when it comes to getting your kitten on a certain day, please let us know this so we can book a flight nanny or ground transport that will more likely arrive at the scheduled time. Of course no travel plans are truly concrete, but I can help to make travel accommodations that are more stable if requested. The transport price ($550-$650) includes the flight nanny, health certificate from my vet, and my mileage to Reno (round trip 9+ hours). The transport cost is an extra cost to you.
- THE BEST OPTION IF YOU LIVE FAR AWAY IS TO FLY INTO RENO YOURSELF. The cheapest, most concrete, and easiest option is for you to fly into the Reno/Tahoe International Airport (RNO) and I will meet you at the airport. You step off the plane, late morning to early afternoon, and meet me in the baggage or pickup/drop off area outside, you have your darling kitten in your arms and we can chat for a bit, read over and sign the health guarantee, you can pay the remaining balance, and you get back on the plane and head home. This is my preferred option if you do not live in the surrounding states. It is the easiest on your kitten if you live a great distance from Nevada and is far easier even if you live in Las Vegas. It is an hour flight to Reno. There is a flight that arrives in Reno after 10am and another that heads back out of Reno around 3 or 4pm. I prefer to meet you in Reno (RNO- Reno/Tahoe International Airport) on a Friday or Saturday around noon, unless it is during summer, so when you book your flights keep this in mind as I have a 4.5 hour drive to Reno and I cannot spend the night in Reno and meet early in the morning or stay into the evening as I need to get home and cannot drive after dark. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK YOUR TICKET UNTIL I HAVE VERIFIED THE FLIGHT DATE AND TIMES WORK FOR ME.
When you pay for your kitten, what will this include:
- Your NVRAIN kitten :)
- A sample of Life's Abundance cat food (dry and/or wet food) and possibly some treats
- Your kitten's first FVRCP shot(s), depending on the age you get him/her. These shots are administered by me, Lacey, at NV Rain.
- Spaying/neutering or a spay/neuter contract unless you've purchased your kitten as a breeder (spays/neuters and rabies shots after 12 weeks of age are administered by my vet)
- Deworming at 5 and 8 and 11 weeks of age
- Your kitten's health record
- A written health guarantee/bill of sale (my health guarantee can be found below in the PDF)
- Most of our kittens will be registerable and those kittens will come with registration paperwork through TICA, if requested. I can email them to your if you decide you'd like to TICA register your kitten or even your adult cat once spayed (unless purchased as a breeder). Our purebred British Shorthair litters will be registered with TICA and registration paperwork for these purebred litters will be supplied with your kitten unless they come on a spay/neuter contract and then papers will be sent after proof of spay/neuter is received by NV Rain. If you pay a reduced price for your kitten, you will not receive registration paperwork. If a kitten's price is listed, followed by "(reduced)" please ask if registration paperwork will be provided with the kitten or if an additional price will be needed.

Kitten Prices:
Prices will vary depending on the combination of British Shorthair, genetta, and munchkin traits as well as the color(s) of the kitten. Higher percentage British Shorthair kittens will be more expensive as will rare colors like lilac golden and silver shaded dwarf or munchkins, solid white dwarf kittens with blue or odd eyes and Dominant Blue Eyed dwarf kittens. Prices as breeders would depend upon these traits as well as traits they carry genetically. Buying a cat for breeding will be more expensive than pet prices.

Why are dwarf kittens more expensive than NS (non-standard) or non-dwarf (ND) kittens?
This is a question we are sometimes asked and so we have decided to include an explanation of why this is so, on our website.
We would first like to start with this important information;
This is a question we are sometimes asked and so we have decided to include an explanation of why this is so, on our website.
We would first like to start with this important information;
- We feed our nursing queens the best, holistic cat food and supplements we can find. Our queens are fed Life's Abundance dry food, Instinctive Choice wet food and/or Royal Canine mother and babycat canned food, and Oxy-Mama vitamins, with additional probiotics and other supplements for a healthy immune system, and well-balanced diet. They also always have access to a water fountain that filters their water to keep it extra fresh and clean. This diet allows our mamas to have an abundant milk supply so that they can care for their kittens and stay healthy and at a good body condition. We always allow mamas to care for their kittens all on their own unless we notice a kitten that needs extra help, that is when we will intervene and offer the additional assistance needed. However, there are some instances that are beyond our control and despite our best efforts we will occasionally lose a kitten, the same goes for any breed of cat but kittens with the dwarf gene are particularly fragile for their first 4-6 weeks of life. Because of this, dwarf kittens are far more rare and often more challenging and delicate to raise than non-standard (NS) or non-dwarf (ND) kittens. That is the first reason for their increased value. Next, in a litter with one dwarf parent and one regular long-legged, ND parent, each kitten statistically has a 50% chance of having the dwarf gene. We have found that, in actuality, the percentage is smaller in most litters and closer to 20-30% dwarf kittens, rather than 50%. Rarely are litters exclusively made up of dwarf kittens. It would be amazing if they were!
- In addition, dwarf kittens grow at a slower rate than their ND (Non-Dwarf) siblings which can sometimes pose extra challenges. As I mentioned before, rarely are litters exclusively made up of dwarf kittens, and since ND kittens start out larger and grow faster (sometimes 50% faster) than their dwarf siblings, this makes competing for prime nursing positions difficult for the dwarf kittens. The ND kittens typically end up with the best nursing spots because of their size advantage, and the dwarf kittens will get whatever is left over, making it necessary to supplement feed the dwarf kittens, otherwise they become weak and will not survive. If a kitten requires supplemental, assisted feeding (via syringe/bottle or tube), and stimulation to expel waste matter (go to the bathroom), this means around-the-clock care which must occur every 2-4 hours, 24 hours a day, until they are eating solid food, around 4-5 weeks of age. That is a lot of feedings, and yes, it can be exhausting.
- As you can see, a lot of monitoring, and extra work goes into ensuring the survival of these precious tiny treasures for the first several weeks of their life. After they are out of the woods, they lead normal, happy, healthy, lives, just as their ND siblings do! ...although, they are extra adorable, their entire lives through!!!
The health of our cats and kittens is our top priority:
- Kittens will be given all age appropriate shots and wormings at Nevada Rain by Lacey. They will be fed Life's Abundance wet and dry cat food and supplements and will be accustom to this food, so it is very important that your kitten is kept on this food through the transition from our home to yours and beyond. If they are not, digestive issues, such as diarrhea could result. If you order food for your Nevada RAIN kitten/cat through our website (there is a button "Order Life's Abundance" on our homepage) throughout the first five years of your kitten/cat's life, the health guarantee will be extended from one year to five years. In order to take advantage of this extension in the health guarantee, you must order food through my website. Many of our kitten buyers have begun ordering food for their dog from Life's Abundance as well. It provides an amazing diet for your pets.
- Our kittens come with a 72 hour health guarantee, and we have a one-year genetic health guarantee. The health guarantee will be sent to you prior to getting your kitten or filled out in person and the buyer and seller must sign and initial where necessary prior to getting your kitten. If we meet in-person, the health guarantee can be completed then, face to face, and you can ask any questions you may have. I recommend reading it before we meet so you can ask your questions in person. I will also go over your health guarantee with you item by item if you wish.
- Our kittens must be kept as house pets and never declawed.
- We neuter and spay our kittens before they leave our home (unless they are purchased as breeders or they are accompanied with a spay/neuter contract). If you are concerned about the health of our kittens due to early neutering/spaying, please read this article by clicking on the Early Spay/Neuter button below this section.
- Kittens will only leave my home when I feel they are ready and my vet has examined them and given them a clean bill of health. Munchkins may not be ready to leave my home at ten weeks of age, so please be patient and know that plans may have to be changed if you must wait awhile longer for your kitten.
- All of our parent cats have been genetically tested, or both of their parents have, for 50 different genetic conditions (results can be found with each cat's description), blood tests are administered for FIV and FeLV as well. Not one of our cats has tested positive for FIV or FeLV. We have just one breeding cat who carries a single copy of a genetic disorder and that will not affect a single kitten in any of our litters at Nevada Rain. Edmond carries one copy of Mucopolysaccharidosis Type VI Modifier. According to Optimal Selection, "Mucopolysaccharidosis Type VI Modifier causes a mild degenerative joint disease, but only if one copy of Mucopolysaccharidosis Type VI is also present." None of our cats carries Mucopolysaccharidosis Type VI, nor does Edmond, so we do not have to worry about Edmond's genetics hurting the health of any of our kittens.
