Nevada Rain Cats is a family run, cattery in Northern Nevada. We are located on a ranch northwest of Winnemucca, Nevada. We are always working toward producing cats and kittens which we believe make the absolute BEST family pets, English Muffins. The English Muffin breed combines the cute little round smiling faces, gorgeous EYES, nobility and beauty of the British Shorthair, the energetic playfulness, excellent health, and eventually the glitter of the Bengals, with the lifelong cuteness of a munchkin. They are beyond compare!! We are also adding the absolute beauty and unique look of dominant blue eyes and odd eyes and a gorgeous shimmer in their coats glitter. We adore each and every cat we own and our kittens leave us with the best socialization on earth, the love and affection of my children and me.
What sets Nevada Rain apart from most other breeders? First, I'm willing to schedule a FaceTime for you to meet one of my kittens before you reserve him or her. I also genetically test and go the extra mile to ensure that each and every kitten I raise has the best chance at a happy, healthy, and as long of a life as possible. Each of my parent cats are genetically tested or cleared by parentage for all 50 genetic disorders on the most comprehensive test I can find, Optimal Selection. I also have my kittens wellness checked by my vet before they go to their new homes.

The English Muffin Breed
This exquisite new breed of cat is called the English Muffin. This stunning, yet adorable feline is a carefully selected combination of 5 different established breeds of purebred cats, British Shorthairs, Munchkins, Bengals, Ragdolls, and DBE/Topaz.
English Muffin cats are known for their sweet and affectionate nature, their often laidback demeanor, and their playful personality.
Some remarkable features of this fabulous new breed are; their short legs (that come from the dwarf gene), their beautiful coat colors and patterns, which often come with “shimmer” (also known as the glitter gene) and are usually short to medium length. In addition, many possess the rare, Dominant Blue Eyes (DBE), which is sometimes expressed as “Odd” or two different colored eyes. They have a short, cobby body, a round head, and small- to medium- sized ears, typically with big, round eyes. Their build and body structure come from the high percentage British Shorthair, in their genetic makeup.
Our* idea for the English Muffin breed started in April of 2019 and has evolved into what it is today.
Many agree that the English Muffin breed is a perfect combination of beauty, cuteness-overload, and charming personality, wrapped up in a fun-sized, lifetime adorable, little package.
The English Muffin cat is also as healthy as possible. Our* parent cats or their parents are all dna tested for 50+ genetic disorders and none of our kittens will be at risk of expressing any of the disorders tested upon by Optimal Selection. We simply do not mess around when it comes to the health of our English Muffins.
*"Our" refers to My Divine Feline (in Utah) and Nevada Rain Cats (in Nevada, of course), those breeders who originally created the English Muffin Breed.

Up-and-Coming King, William
William is the whole package of English Muffin! He is genetically blue silver tabby, but that color is masked by the solid white gene. He carries Burmese colorpoint and is A blood group. He is an odd-eyed, one blue and one gold eye, hunk of wonderful that opens up a whole new realm of possibilities here at Nevada Rain. William is currently being raised here and we hope his future is bright and fertile! He was special, unique and PURRRfect from the start! For more information, genetic testing results for him and his parents, Wink and Daichi, as well as lots of pictures, visit the English Muffin Kings page to see William, and the Purebred British Shorthair page to see his dad, Daichi. If you like the looks of William, he has a full sister, Wren, available now on the Available Kittens page.
Paxton is the handsome fellow below. He was born in the spring of 2022 and he stole my heart right off the bat. He's a 75% British Shorthair, English Muffin. He's on our English Muffin Kings page if you want to check him out. The pictures below were taken at about a week of age, left, about a month old, about two months old, and at 10 months of age, on the far right. Paxton's dad is Watson on the Purebred British Shorthair page. Paxton became a dad for the first time in 2023. Paxton's kittens are my favorite kittens I've ever had. They are so sweet, some even have a cute little habit of prancing about with a little question mark tail, just like Paxton's mom, Peeka. Love them!!!
If you like the looks of Paxton, look at his half siblings on our Available Kittens page. Sapphire and Watson's kittens were born in late August, 2024. These kittens are such beautiful kittens and some will likely be dominant blue eyed (DBE).

2024 Breeding Plans
***The English Muffins are gaining in popularity!! It makes me excited to see comments online about English Muffins because that means our English Muffin breed is taking off. BUT, sometimes it makes me a bit concerned when people don't know what English Muffins really are. We, Nevada Rain Cats and My Divine Feline, have worked so hard to build our English Muffin programs. English Muffins are always carefully selected, where only the genetically clear and healthy cats are kept at Nevada Rain for breeding and we would never breed two cats that might have a possibility of producing unhealthy offspring. The English Muffins we produced in 2023, were some of our highest percentage British Shorthair, up to 93.75%. We were able to produce our first Dominant Blue Eyed or Dominant Blue, Odd-Eyed (DBE and DB/OE) kittens and they were definitely popular and so adorable!! We definitely want to produce some more higher percentage British Shorthair litters in 2024, 75-87.5% British Shorthair is my personal favorite range.
***In 2024, we've grown our Shimmery English Muffin Line. We have so many possibilities, so many gorgeous color possibilities, and fabulous personalities. We have not yet produced a Shimmery English Muffin, but we should be set up to produce several in 2025, fingers crossed.

Shimmery English Muffin Dreams:
Below, are Minkie, left, and Dickens, right, our first glitter carrying pair of English Muffins. Both of these beauties are 50% British Shorthair, standard (dwarf) English Muffins. Dickens came to us from My Divine Feline in Utah and Minkie was raised right here at Nevada Rain. We are REALLY hoping these two will be the beautiful parents of our first Shimmery English Muffins in 2024. Each of their kittens would have a 25% chance of showing glitter by getting a copy of the glitter gene from each parent. We plan to keep the first Shimmery English Muffins, so we can offer more shimmery kittens to you in the future. It'll take us a little while to get our breeding program going, but rest assure that once we do, they will be amazing!! We hope to be making Shimmery English Muffins available by mid-2025.
If you'd like to know more about our Shimmery English Muffin breeding plans or you're not sure what the glitter gene is, please go to our NEW SHIMMERY English Muffins page and read more about glitter there. We've also kept some gorgeous glitter carrying kittens this year that you MUST see!!

Genetic Testing Through Optimal Selection:
We are so proud to say that all of our English Muffin foundation breeding cats are genetically tested through Optimal Selection for around 50 genetic disorders, color, traits and blood type or cleared by parentage (both parents are tested and neither parent carries any of the tested upon disorders). If you are interested in one of our kittens, please don't be afraid to ask for these genetic results. I'd be proud to share them with you. They can also be found below each of our cats on our breeding cat pages, Purebred British Shorthair page, as well as our English Muffins Queens and Kings pages. We never EVER compromise the health of our kittens and would never breed two cats that carry the same genetic disorder, but that isn't a problem because we do not own two cats that carry the same disorder. Edmond is our only cat that carries a single copy of Mucopolysaccharidosis Type VI Modifier and because none of our queens carry Mucopolysaccharidosis Type VI, none of our kittens will be affected by the disorder.
Lacey and her family, LOVE to raise kittens and find them amazing homes. Kittens are kept at NV Rain until they are 8+ weeks old, properly vaccinated, spayed/neutered or come with a spay/neuter contract (unless purchased as a breeder), and dewormed and socialized from an early age. Please check out our Available Kittens page to see what we have available now. If you're interested in meeting me and the kitten you're looking to reserve, please feel free to schedule a FaceTime with Lacey and the kitty or two you want to see. Reserved kittens can be found on the Kittens Awaiting their New Homes page up until they leave Nevada Rain, by clicking on More... at the top of this page. Our English Muffins will be spayed and neutered before leaving, so please be prepared to wait until your kitten is around 11-14 weeks of age to get him/her.
